TripAdvisor Triplets

They can be spotted from New York to Paris. You might not know who they are but you recognize them. They are the TripAdvisor Triplets. The identical blondes have been used by TripAdvisor over the past year to help promote the brand and drive traffic to their website. At Roland Garros in May they walked around the grounds in TripAdvisor t-shirts. And most recently they were seen outside of the Today Show, engaged in the political process, encouraging people to vote--for the charity that they wished for TripAdvisor to donate money to. See the post on TripAdvisor’s “More Than Footprints” campaign for details on the charity event. Watch the triplets be interviewed by Meredith Vieira below:

Patch Program

Brand building through association at a sporting event is one creative way to market your company or product. Even if the company is not an official sponsor of the event, there are ways to place a brand's logo so that it will be seen by an audience. ProVentures utilized this strategy for TripAdvisor by implementing a Patch Program at three Grand Slam tennis events in 2008.

The Patch Program identifies and secures male and female tennis players who are competing in the main draw of Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open on show courts to wear the TripAdvisor logo on their clothing. This program gives national and international television exposure as well as print media exposure. For example, at the U.S. Open, ProVentures placed the TripAdvisor patch in 22 televised matches, including on 6 upset winners.

Another way that TripAdvisor has built their brand is through cause marketing. See the link below to the Rosario Dawson "Vote? Why Bother?" video for more details.

TripAdvisor - “More Than Footprints” Campaign

TripAdvisor is founded on the belief that people should have a collective voice, and this is the idea behind their most recent charity campaign. Coinciding with the timing of the recent election, TripAdvisor's charity initiative "More Than Footprints" is giving $1 million to 5 different charities that can be voted for online. Starring actress Rosario Dawson, a video titled "Vote? Why Bother?" is a play off of the 5 friends video that encouraged people to vote in the presidential election. The Rosario Dawson video sarcastically tells people not to vote, that the environment, health and other causes don't matter. To vote for the charity you wish to win you must go on to the TripAdvisor website and register for free, to then cast your vote. The $1 million will be split up among the 5 charities based on the percentage of votes they get. Each charity is guaranteed $50,000/ The causes are all related to travel and included Conservation International, Doctors Without Borders, National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy and Save the Children. TripAdvisor is the world's largest online travel community with over 15 million reviews from real people.
