TripAdvisor - “More Than Footprints” Campaign
TripAdvisor is founded on the belief that people should have a collective voice, and this is the idea behind their most recent charity campaign. Coinciding with the timing of the recent election, TripAdvisor's charity initiative "More Than Footprints" is giving $1 million to 5 different charities that can be voted for online. Starring actress Rosario Dawson, a video titled "Vote? Why Bother?" is a play off of the 5 friends video that encouraged people to vote in the presidential election. The Rosario Dawson video sarcastically tells people not to vote, that the environment, health and other causes don't matter. To vote for the charity you wish to win you must go on to the TripAdvisor website and register for free, to then cast your vote. The $1 million will be split up among the 5 charities based on the percentage of votes they get. Each charity is guaranteed $50,000/ The causes are all related to travel and included Conservation International, Doctors Without Borders, National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy and Save the Children. TripAdvisor is the world's largest online travel community with over 15 million reviews from real people.
